For ten years now HSR Heutrocknung has been developing intelligent control systems to automate the entire drying process. The key point here is the efficiency of drying. On the basis of Measurement values from a variety of temperature and humidity sensors the control system determines which type of operation (indoor air, fresh air or mixed air) is most effective.

HSR Heutrocknung offers a central control system developed in-house especially for hay drying requirements, as well as for other materials, such as the drying of wood, cereals, herbs, and many more. The control system has been developed with the specific technical and agricultural background of farmer and founder of the firm, Josef Reindl.

The modern, clear control system displays all the data relevant to hay drying and to cooling technology on one screen. Its many features include double racing fittings, 24 hour interval drying, and current limitation during stall times.

The control system can run fully automatically in "Automatic" operation, which spares the farmer a great deal of work. Even more convenience in operation is ensured by the optional offset display of the HSR Connect modules installed in control systems operated by Smartphone or tablet.

Elite regulation
Elite regulation (or the Elite control system) allows you to adjust the wind speed as required. A further step towards energy-efficacy and low drying costs has been achieved with the HSR software module, the Vario Elite anemometer, which is installed as standard.
24 hour interval drying
24 hour interval drying
24 hour interval drying gives you individual control of all the drying boxes. The 12" control system makes up to 30 intervals available to the farmer. We always recommend interval operation for large volumes of input.
Stall times
Stall times
For specific times, when the power supply system is shared with other current collectors (e.g. with the hay crane or milking robot) stall times can be defined, during which the dehumidifier and the fan are operated in economy mode.
Calculating drying time
Calculating drying time
We calculate the planned drying times by means of the intake of the import volume and the yield per ha. This has the great advantage that, as the hay is imported, it can be determined whether it will be possible to dry the hay in less than 80 hours.

Calculation in accordance with HX
Calculation using the HX diagram takes into account temperature and humidity, as well as the "storage capacity of the air". This feature improves the productivity of the control system.

Trend recording
All sensor values are displayed and stored in the control system to ensure the smooth analysis and evaluation of the success of the drying process. These values help the farmer to optimise his hay drying process from year to year.

The racing fittings show whether the system is operating in the normal operation range or the drying is operating at the limit ranges. The double racing fittings record the values even more clearly.

Operating modes
The control system can be operated manually or fully automatically. In manual operation all the shutters and valves can be controlled at the push of a button. In automatic operation the intelligent control system regulates the process by means of the sensor values.

HSR Connect
The HSR Connect module is a 1:1 visualisation of the drying process on a Smartphone or a tablet. This feature allows you to inspect and intervene in the entire drying process directly from the sofa from your mobile phone. More information on HSR Connect
USB data export

The trend recording feature gives a screen display of all the historic drying values. These values can additionally be read out through the USB data interfaces and displayed and analysed on the PC.

To guard against improper use the VARIO Comfort 12“ and 5.7“ control systems offer child lock protection. This password protection guarantees that no-one can unintentionally intervene in the drying process.

HSR central control systems are available in several languages. As our sales territories continue to expand, we regularly expand our range of languages. A member of your sales team can tell you whether your language has been installed in the control system.

Depending on the control system up to twelve boxes can communicate with the central control system. It does not matter how large the boxes are or what material needs to be dried. This is recorded during the initial commissioning.
Error assistant

The new error assistant opens automatically in the event of an error or a fault message. The assistant is an interactive aid for the farmer; it assists him in localising the cause of the error and helps to rectify the error.
Upgrade of new features in older control systems
The key component of HSR air dehumidifiers is the central control system, which we have developed. Over the last ten years we have continually been expanding the functions of this control system. Based on the know-how of farmer and founder of the firm, Josef Reindl the central control system is in addition now expanded and optimised on the basis of feedback from more than 1,000 customers.
So that our loyal customers may benefit from the further developments, we always endeavour to make innovations available as updates (software updates and hardware updates). Helpful additional features and modules
In order to relieve the daily workload, both the large 12" central control system and the 5.7" central control system offer a range of features, which are activated as standard in the control system. In addition there are useful features, which have been designed for specific user requirements. These are:
Offset display
Offset display
The display from the dehumidifier is installed in a separate metal housing (approx. 55 x 40 x 15 cm). This housing can be mounted in a position of your choice.* This may be at the entrance to the hay barn or in your farmhouse. *The dehumidifier and the offset display are connected through a data cable, the required length of which must be clarified with our sales department.
Exhaust air window
Exhaust air window
Depending on the control system an exhaust air window per barn or an exhaust air window per hay box can be controlled. The corresponding specific control system is activated by means of the exhaust air window module.
Generator start / waste heat utilisation
Generator start / waste heat utilisation
The emergency power generator on the Vario Elite is controlled by a start/stop module with appropriate after-running cycles. Vario Elite+ regulates the targeted drying area in use fully automatically via various shutters and in this way feeds in waste heat. Indicators such as fuel are displayed on the generator - also in a mobile version with HSR Connect. Because use is different for individual purposes and depends on the generator used, we recommend that you contact our sales team.

The cable winch module makes it possible for the cable winch to be operated for an exhaust air window or similar. The cable winch is already included in the cable winch module. Under our warranty cable winches from third-party suppliers may not be operated with our control system.
Auxiliary heating system
Auxiliary heating system
Additional heating by means of a heat coil or a domestic heating system makes the drying process even more effective. The auxiliary heating system module, which we offer, allows the relevant components to be integrated into the drying process. Please contact our sales force for detailed advice.

The fault message module has a signal light or SMS function, which warns the hay drying operator of malfunctions in the drying process.
Box positions and hay boxes
Box positions and hay boxes
Up to five hay boxes with linear connection are included in the 12" control system and up to 3 hay boxes in the 5.7" control system. We offer the "Box Positions" expansion module for additional boxes or special positions in the channel, such as 2 left/3 right or 2 left/1 centre/2 right, and so on. In this module a variety of special cylinder designs can be created at low cost.
Software subscription
Software subscription
We are always trying to obtain the maximum performance from our control system. In the last few years innovations, such as the Elite regulation or calculation in accordance with the HX diagram or the positive energy balance, have had a substantial effect on the energy efficiency of our drying plants. By taking out a software subscription you receive all the updates for 2, 3 or 4 years and are always guaranteed the most recent software for drying your hay.

You have particularly specific requirements for drying your hay? We will be pleased to develop our control system further, in close consultation with you, and to adapt it to your needs. In recent years we have set up numerous projects, such as a drying system of 17 boxes containing different material to be dried. We look forward to your enquiry.
Box drying and round bale drying
The VARIO Comfort control system (12“ und 5.7“) dries loose hay, round bales, wood, maize, cereals and much more. When purchasing, please specify the relevant material to be dried and this will be updated in the control system during initial commissioning. In various computer programs the drying temperature and drying period are adapted for drying loose hay, round bales, wood, etc.
Tray drying
Tray drying can be used for drying herbs, hemp or tobacco. In this process the material to be dried is spread out on different trays, which are then also dried in accordance with pre-defined programs. The temperature and humidity sensors installed detect the corresponding real values.
As long ago as 2011 HSR Heutrocknung designed its first herb drying plant. Continuous further development and intensive discussions with the drying plant operators are continually improving our herb drying plant.
